OUR EXPERTISE
Matthias Arabians is owned and operated by nationally recognized trainer and judge, Leon Matthias. Leon originally opened Matthias Arabians in
Readlyn,
Iowa in 1963. In 2001, Leon moved Matthias Arabians to
Norwalk,
Iowa, thereby enabling more horse enthusiasts to gain access to his expertise and training. Through a long-standing history of success Leon has developed a reputation as one of the finest trainers and instructors in the industry. Leon
and
daughter-in-law, Kim Matthias, offers expertise in training and showing in a variety of disciplines including halter and performance for all levels of competition.
Also showing family owned horses is son, Lon Matthias and grandson Landon. All riders at Matthias Arabians are assisted in an atmosphere that emphasizes hard work, discipline, the art of good horsemanship and a love of the Arabian horse.

TRAINING
By maintaining a limited number of horses in training, Matthias Arabians is able to devote special attention to each and every horse in its care. Every horse and rider is treated to one-on-one lessons, which allows Leon and his staff to focus their attention on each individual's specific requirements.

LESSONS
Matthias Arabians offers an array of classes--Halter, Hunter, Western, Equitation, English/Country English, Reining, and Costume. All students have an opportunity to learn from the industry's best riding coaches in an atmosphere that encourages hard work, discipline, the art of good sportsmanship, and most importantly, having fun and maintaining a good sense of humor. Matthias Arabian's riders, whether amateur, youth or professional, bring home the trophies and the blue ribbons.

BREEDING
Matthias Arabians provides a full service breeding program. Breeding Manager Kim Matthias provides quality care for both stallions and mares. She has over 10 years of experience with vast knowledge in the technical aspect of collecting, preparing and shipping of cooled semen as well as artificial insemination. Incoming mares are well cared for by the staff at Matthias Arabians. Services such as foaling and foal care as well as foal halter breaking and basic training are also available.
